FAQ's
Q: How do you find funny screenshots?
A: Screenshots featured on this site are normally taken in very populated places where casual conversation is likely to occur. In game Bugs also make great screenshots and if not too many of one bug are taken and submitted, there is greater odds that yours will be accepted.
Q: What are your Runescape Name(s)?
A: The staff of this website don't give out their names at this current point in time simply for privacy. We welcome all comments about the site, but would prefer through e-mail or through our Contact Us form. We like to play the game as normal as we can too, you know?
Q: JAGeX rules state that buying and selling of coins (GP) is not allowed, how do you explain the ad banners?
A: The banners on the top and bottom of each page are placed there by a third party, they are paid advertisements and we do not condone the buying or selling of in-game currency. Those sites are NOT owned by us, and never will be.
Q: Who would you guys recommend for image hosting?
A: We recently launched an Image Hosting service, so we would of course recommend it, there are no strings attached, no annoying pop-ups, just fast one click uploads and you can be on your way!
Q: How should I submit my idea to the site?
A: We welcome all ideas, your best bet for doing so would be to contact us through he website forums and or forums. We will try to respond to as many queries as we can.
Q: I wanted to start an ***Humor.net website -- Can I get your code?
A: Unfortunately our software is currently in beta stages and as most things are, is proprietary; if you have an expansion idea however, you can submit it to us and we may work with you in getting the site up and running.
Q: Why does it take so long for our images to be approved?
A: The answer to this is simple and complex at the very same time. We have a procedure for image additions that includes going through the images initially and rejecting ones (on almost a bi-hourly basis) that are not going to be added to the site (Reasons may include: not funny, illegal images, not meeting the criteria set forth when you upload an image). From this step we accept the ones that will not allow us to watermark their images. Images that have gotten through this stage have to wait for enough images to be pending approval before they are finally watermarked. Once watermarking is complete the images are put live and announcements are made.
Q: So you are saying that if we do not let you watermark images will be added faster?
A: No, we (attempt) to update twice a week (time permitting), sometimes we are a day late, but normally it is for a very good reason -- We have lives too :(.
Q: How come when there is an announcement posted of new images added, I do not always see them within the "viewall" module?
A: After RSHumor.Net Version 2.5 was pushed live on June 31st caching of all pages now takes place. We become aware of this a short time ago and now on update days all site cache files are cleared when new images are activated. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. If we do miss a few pages, the page will regenerate itself within a few hours and you will see the change.
Q: Is there anything that I can do to help RSHumor?
A: The most obvious way to help or support RSHumor would be to continue taking funny screenshots and submitting them to us. Within the next few weeks we will be beta testing a new piece of software that we have written to allow frequent submitters to edit descriptions of images and a whole lot more. Complete details of this update are not yet ready, but it is in the works!
Q: Why do you watermark images?
A: RSHumor does take a persons rights very seriously. We only watermark images with consent of the author (through the selection box on the upload form). If an image was wrongfully watermarked we may request a copy of the image to replace it with (if a backup is not available). Watermarks are placed on the images for the primary reason so that if you see a picture that you submitted to RSHumor on another site, you know that it is your image, and we can protect your rights to the image and request removal of the image, or proceed through legal avenues with getting the image taken down.
Q: How come it takes so long to update the site with new features?
A: Surprisingly, the answer to this question has nothing to do with the feature not being finished, it is all about scalability of the feature. If our server is not stable enough for it, as originally written -- we have to modify it over and over until it becomes stable.
Q: Image Commenting?
A: Ahhh...It is in the works as we speak ;)
Q: You guys have an image on your site that belongs to me and I did not give you permission to use! How do I get it taken down?
A: Submit an Image Removal Request form. We may require in game identification to confirm that you are who you say you are. An original (un-watermarked) copy may also be required to prove that you are the owner of the image. We try to make the process as painless as possible, but people frequently claim that an image is theirs, when it truly is not. We apologize in advance for any inconvenience that may occur during this process.
Q: When I attempt to upload an image, it says that my IP has been banned from doing so, what do I do?
A: Ahhh yes, this was a feature that was recently added to prevent image uploading spam. Please note that RSHumor does not condone the excessive manufacturing of fake screenshots for the sake of harassing and belittling anyone, for any reason. If we receive complaints saying that they find an image they were uploaded in offensive, we will remove the image and you may lose your ability to submit new images to the site. If your IP changes and this has affected you by mistake, please contact us with your IP and ISP and we will work to correct the situation. We take harassment very seriously and it is never tolerated.
Q: I've found a bug in your scripts, can I abuse them?
A: I will refer you to our websites Terms of Service, you may not abuse, reverse engineer, or manipulate scripts in any way. We would appreciate that if you do happen to find a bug that you report it to us. That does not mean after you have mail bombed us, this means before, and minus the script abuse. If we find any elicit script abuse for any reason we will blacklist you from being able to access rshumor. We don't have the time, nor the patience to deal with bored persons out to harm a site that we have put so much time and effort into.
Q: If you have any more questions that are not answered on this page, please contact us through the form available on the navigation bar and we will answer it for you. If it is a frequently asked question and does not appear on this page, we will update it as soon as possible.
